Lochwinnoch Community Development Trust (LCDT) are collaborating with Lochwinnoch Force for Nature (LFN) to hold a small biodiversity study – called a “Bio-Blast” on Sunday 25th September at Lochead Gardens. All are welcome to come onto site to help them identify what’s currently living there.

LCDT recently took over responsibility for the abandoned section of land in Lochwinnoch which used to house an old furniture factory. They have received some funding from Renfrewshire Council to develop the area to a community space, Lochhead Gardens. Over the last year, the site has been home to Lochwinnoch Community Larder, as well as an outdoor children’s Wildcare area.
Earlier this year they held a community consultation and gathered ideas of what the local people would like on the site. They have now secured services, and have employed a Garden Designer, Rachel Bailey, to help put all their ideas down on paper. They hope to begin the “fun” garden design work, including structural work and planting areas early next year.
Come along and help out
The small biodiversity study will help to give a baseline of what animals and plants are on site. They would also like to hold a larger “Bio-Blitz” in spring of 2023.
Date: Sun, 25 September 2022
Time: 10:00 – 15:00
Location: Lochhead Gardens, Lochhead Avenue, Lochwinnoch PA12 4AW
If you are interested in taking part you can get further details and register for the “Bio-Blast” on Eventbrite.
