Liz runs a small company based in Lochwinnoch called Starling Learning and they’ve been going for 29 years. Their work includes a mix of ecological consultancy, environmental education, conservation management and wildlife gardening. Liz is a member of the Scottish Ornithologists Club. She’s spent the spring and summer trying to find Meadow Pipit and Skylark nests in order that they don’t get crushed under the construction of a wind farm, very stressful. She owns many spades and picks slugs and snails off the garden path so her neighbours won’t stand on them.

This talk will discuss some of the interesting environmental campaigns in Renfrewshire that have either taken place or are underway. It will highlight how local residents, local community activists and professional environmentalists have been able to help conserve precious areas and mitigate destructive policy and infrastructural development within the area. It will discuss what you can do, and what tools are at your disposal, if you want to help conserve an area in your community.
