Kirsty Menzies is leading this outing to look at the trees around Jenny’s Well Nature Reserve. We will look at some of the most common wild species and examine the buds, twigs, bark, flowering parts and look for other clues to help us identify them. There will be plenty of opportunity to observe other plants and wildlife around the reserve.
We will bring some guides with us but here are some simple ones that you might like to download:

Meet at 1:30pm, next to the cycle barriers on the path at the end of Jenny’s Well Road (PA2 7BH), at the eastern entrance to the reserve. Grid ref NS 4994 6271 (as shown by the green walker marker on the map). The path is on National Cycle Route 75 and cycle racks are situated a few minutes further up the path. There is on-street parking on Jenny’s Well Road.
The walk is due to finish at 4.30pm but feel free to leave at any time. Please ensure that you dress appropriately for the weather. The walk is mostly on good paths with some gentle inclines.
