GNHS outing to Neilston Pad

Saturday 25th May 2024

Kirsty Menzies is leading this walk for Glasgow Natural History Society and a warm welcome has been extended to PNHS members.

The walk will pass through mixed woodland and grassland before heading up to the pad heathland and then back down and around the Snypes Dam. Some rough, muddy paths and steep inclines so walking boots/wellies are best. Bring a packed lunch and dress for the weather.

Meet at 11am in the first car park on the left, off Harelaw Road, coming from Neilston (Grid Ref NS466545). The turning onto Harelaw Road is at the top of a steep hill and is signposted for Harelaw Fishery (if you use Google Maps for navigation, search for Harelaw Trout Fishery and Coffee Shop to help find the turning). Please note there is a height barrier which excludes tall vehicles. See the orange markers on the Googlemap opposite for details. If you arrive early, the popular cafe, further up Harelaw Road, is open for breakfast and refreshments.

Public transport: A lift is available from Barrhead, by prior arrangement. McGills buses 51/51A from Paisley to Auchenback, Barrhead via Neilston Road, run every 15 minutes. See timetable and map.

Get in touch to let us know if you are coming. Emergency contact details will be taken by the leader at the start of the outing.
