An outing to Cashel Forest, ancient oakwoods on the eastern slopes of Loch Lomondside. If we are fortunate and get a sunny day, there is a good chance of seeing adders and slow worms.
The Cashel Forest Trust was established to restore and regenerate these Scottish native woodlands. Their visitor centre centre provides an excellent base for exploring the woodland trails. Otters, badgers, red squirrels, water voles, pine marten, black grouse, woodpeckers, adders, glow worms, and many other species of wildlife can be found there. The Visitor Centre offers parking for £3 per day and toilet facilities.
Parts of the walk are uphill so walking boots are recommended. Bring a pack lunch and refreshments.
We will meet at 9.30am on Seedhill Road, next to the tannery, across from East End Park, and organise car-sharing. For those leaving their cars, on-street parking is free.
