Art is Ecology!
Festival Celebrating Renfrewshire Biodiversity
Come and join us to celebrate ‘International Day for Biological Diversity’ from 11am-3pm Saturday, 17 May at Tannahill Community Centre and Library, 76 Blackstoun Road, Paisley.
Paisley Museum and Art Gallery and the Open University welcome Renfrewshire folks of all ages and interests to this free event. It’s open to everyone and celebrates all the living things that flourish in and around Renfrewshire: from bugs and birds, to plants and people. Prepare to be inspired!
o Let your creativity flow during hands-on activities for all ages inspired by paintings and natural history specimens in Paisley Museum and Art Gallery:
o Discover what local bug you are most similar to and make your own ‘ally’ mask
o Craft a handmade Field Guide Sketchbook like Morris Young, the entomologist who was the first curator of the Paisley Museum
o Create a painted self-portrait with natural inks inspired by local ornithologist Alexander Wilson
o Visit our digital exhibition featuring beautiful bug records drawn and recorded talented local school children
o Use pedal power to fuel a screening of two short films about the connection between art and ecology in Scottish museums
o Handle some of the objects in the natural history collection at the Paisley Museum
o Meet and talk to some talented and passionate people who are helping improve biodiversity in Renfrewshire communities
Paisley Natural History Society will be there so come by and say hello. We’d love to see you.
