We plan to have weekly or fortnightly outings to some of our local wildlife places.
There are many local places to be explored, including Renfrewshire Local Nature Conservation Sites that need more surveying.
Along with this, we hope to help members develop more skills in identifying the local wildlife with a bit of training, depending on what people want to do. A few of the ideas that spring to mind are butterflies, dragonflies, bumblebees, other pollinators such as hoverflies, beetles. Anything that takes someone’s fancy really. For some of these groups we already have some expertise. For others we hope that a few people might like to take on the task of finding out what there is in the way of field guides, lists of local species etc.

To get things started we plan to hold a zoom meeting for anyone interested in getting involved in this activity. If you are interested, please let us know. I propose the first zoom meeting to be on Tuesday 18th March 7pm – 8 pm.
We will choose a suitable timetable for the outings that suits most people. That depends on who would be interested and what is the evening/day that suits best. It could vary from week to week! There is of course no obligation to attend every meeting. Ideally we should appoint a group leader for each one – to arrange timings, meeting point etc. Each meeting could have a special theme if people would like to take this on.
Later on I would like to have a chance to discuss our local Renfrewshire Local Biodiversity Plan and how we might contribute to it.
So, please get in touch if you want to join our study group.
