PNHS member, Craig Postlethwaite, is leading a lichen walk this Sunday, 26th February and any members interested in learning more about lichens and their identification is welcome to come along.

The group will meet at 09:30am at the car park off Braehead Road on the way up to Paisley Golf Club, NS472606 (see location in map below). The walk will go around Glen Park woods in a short loop around the Upper Mill Dam and back. Craig will show all the main growth forms and a few variations of crustose fruits. A bit of time will be spent looking at lichens on some Hawthorns and give participants a chance to use the FSC lichen guides. Bring your guides and a handlens with you if you have them.
Its shouldn’t take any more than an couple of hours at most. If people are interested, the group will then move on to the car park further up nearer the sub station where there are some nice crustose and cladonia lichens on the dry stone dykes.
If the weather looks bad the outing will be cancelled and we will post any changes on this page. If you Contact us to let us know if you would like to come along, we will notify you of any changes.
